Historic Elmwood Park is a neighborhood in the heart of downtown Columbia, South Carolina and contains one of the largest collections of early twentieth century homes remaining in the city. Elmwood Park has grown into a vibrant downtown community, retaining the architectural distinction of the early twentieth century and maintaining its historical character. Architectural styles include Queen Anne, Foursquare, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman Bungalow. The neighborhood was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, and was designated a local Architectural Conservation District in 1988. Two historic schools are located in the neighborhood, the still-functioning Logan Elementary, and the former Wardlaw Junior High, which is now a residential senior facility known as Wardlaw Apartments. Conveniently located near the newly revitalized North Main district, minutes from downtown Main street and the Vista.
